Light delicate dough, mozzarella that melts in your mouth, and a tomato sauce doing all that it should, exploding with hints of garlic and basil. I've been looking for traditional Italian pizza ever since my honeymoon to Sardinia five years ago. I think I've found it.
I ordered Rudy's margarita pizza
With a simple menu - done really well - the rustic, open plan space has bags of character and warmth. And to top it off, Enzo and I were greeted with a huge smile. A baby chair was brought over swiftly, as were the menus. I ordered the classic margarita.
As we waited for our food, the afternoon buzz kept Enzo entertained; the lively open kitchen, the stone oven on the go, the chitter-chatter from the friendly staff.

Gazing out of the full length windows which give you a wave of daylight, even on a grey day I dreamed a little about my previous life. Coming here on a Friday night, sipping wine before a warm inviting pizza would be delivered. Then Enzo dropped his toy tiger on the floor putting me firmly back into parent-zone. And then we tucked in, a perfect afternoon, with the perfect pizza.
You don't have to book a table at Rudy's, just turn up from midday and the friendly staff will grab you a table. If it's busy you may have to hang around a little but it's worth it. I'd recommend this place at lunchtime, after work, dinner before drinks, if they did breakfast I'd be there too. Don't believe me. Give their instagram a follow - but be warned - it will make you very hungry.
